With the Iraqi Economy Screaming Into High Gear, US Firm USP&E Global Wins $200m Power Station Engineering, Equipment Procurement and Construction Project in Iraq.
Dallas-based USP&E Global announced in January 2011 that they have been awarded a $200 million LOI for a unique portable diesel power station package that it is pioneering for projects in Iraq and all over Africa. CEO Will Gruver said “Iraq is ready for massive upgrades to their electrical grid and, with this order for over $200m per year, field engineers agree that our Portable HFO Generator is affordable, simple to install and available almost immediately.”
While there are signs of economic growth all over Iraq, the lack of a reliable power grid is a massive obstacle to expansion. Indeed, the middle class is expanding and security has strengthened. But although economic recovery is in full swing and healthy businesses are popping up all over the nation, the Iraqi people are still suffering from an electricity supply system that has been in shambles for nearly two decades. For outsiders, this may seem relatively trivial. But for most Iraqis this looming crisis is a critical last hurdle to true economic and political stability.
When it comes to the looming electricity shortages globally, US-based Power Station EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) firms like USP&E Global have a lot going for them these days. In fact, USP&E’s offerings are so unique that at least 6 separate nations with fast growth economies have approached Mr. Gruver and his team recently looking to purchase their new power station equipment urgently.
“For several years we have been developing our offerings and in Mid-2010 we rolled out an equipment package that we guarantee (with liquid damages) to meet the urgent energy requirements of our gold mining, data center and government utility clients – and for 20% less than the competition,” said Mr. Gruver, referring to their recent string of multi-million dollar power station engineering, procurement and construction projects in Sierra Leone, Columbia and Mali.
Companies like USP&E Global are a part of a growing contingency of medium-sized multinational firms invigorated by a new gold rush of economic activity in Iraq and other emerging markets such as Nigeria, South Africa, Ethiopia and Brazil.
USP&E is a Dallas-based global energy solutions provider that focuses on engineering, diesel generator sales, construction, power station operations and maintenance of diesel generators and HFO power stations worldwide. For more information on their offerings see http://www.uspowerco.com
