Iraq and World Bank Sign a Contract for the Financing of the Dry Canal Project for Roads Strategy

Iraq signed by the representatives of the ministries of Housing and Finance and the Central Bank, Sunday, with the World Bank contract to finance the dry canal project in Iraq, while confirming the housing that the agreement comes as part of a major project to develop and establish ways of a new strategy linking Iraq to neighboring countries.
The Minister of Housing and Construction Mohammed Darraji during the signing ceremony that “This agreement comes as part of a major project to develop and establish ways of a new strategy linking Iraq to neighboring countries,” stressing that “the World Bank recognized the site of the Iraqi strategic and important for the development of global trade and passing through Iraq, where Iraq is a loop bridge between East and West.
“The roads that will be implemented within this agreement include road (Basra – Safwan) and by (Nasiriya – Rumaila) and by (Nasiriya – Samawah – bureaucracy),” explaining that “the ministry has already forwarded the draft rehabilitation project Highway portion (Baghdad – suit – bureaucracy) within the budget of the ministry of investment allocated from the state.
The Darraji that “the road project (Baghdad – Heat – Trebil and newborn), which links the capital, Baghdad, Jordan and Syria engaged in negotiations on financing by the Islamic Development Bank to be the international road complete from the extreme of Basra and to the international border link between Iraq, Syria and Jordan”, pointing out that “There are 21 weight station set up by the ministry is currently working in a number of southern provinces as being the work to complete the fifty-four other stations scattered in the remaining cities to be a total of 75 stations.
For his part, Minister of Finance and serenity net debt agency said that “the project is one of the important projects and ambitious for the development of trade and transport in Iraq and will benefit large trade Iraqi and international”, praising the role of the Ministry of Construction and Housing in the “quest for the development of the road sector in Iraq.
In addition, the representative of the World Bank Fred Belhadj, that “This agreement reflects the relationship between the World Bank and Iraq will be the door wider, which will be funded from other projects and we will support this relationship based on trust,” stressing the importance of “the status of Iraq’s strategy in the region and the world.”
